About the opportunity

Join our Global Technology Team as a Mid-Level Software Engineer and make a daily impact. Every conversation, line of code, and interface design enriches our customers’ experiences. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Engineering, you will play a vital role in Xplor's core Office (Admin) platform, supporting critical business workflows for Australian customers. This is a full-stack engineering role within a collaborative team across Australia and India. You will work with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional feature groups to build and enhance systems, contributing to both a modern Laravel/Vue stack and the ongoing modernization of legacy systems. What you'll be doing:

As a key engineering team member, you will be hands-on across the full stack from day one. Your daily responsibilities include:

• Developing, maintaining, and enhancing backend systems using PHP and Laravel, alongside frontend features built in Vue.js.
• Contributing to both the modern Laravel/Vue stack and the existing CodeIgniter system as part of an active modernization effort.
• Managing deployments directly via AWS, with hands-on experience in ECS, Lambda, SQS, and deployment pipelines.
• Collaborating with senior engineers, QA, and product teams through structured feature groups to refine requirements and deliver production-ready work.
• Actively participating in code reviews, upholding code quality, and aligning work with existing architecture patterns.
• Deeply understanding existing systems and architecture to gradually influence technical decision-making.
• Working effectively across time zones within a distributed team spanning Australia and India.

Location: Remote within Australia, with a preference for Melbourne-based candidates and full Australian working rights.

You'll need:

• 3–5 years of hands-on PHP development experience with strong Laravel framework knowledge.
• Solid experience with Vue.js (React experience will be considered).
• Strong MySQL skills, including writing and optimizing efficient queries.
• Experience with Docker and containerized development environments.
• Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
• Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals, comfortable navigating core services such as ECS, Lambda, SQS, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with CodeIgniter or other legacy PHP frameworks.
• Comfort working in a distributed team environment across time zones.

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience contributing to system modernization or migration projects.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and structured feature delivery.
• A collaborative, curious mindset—someone who reads the codebase before rewriting it.
