Software Development Engineer II – Frontend (Full-Stack)
Join Medbridge, a dynamic software company shaping the future of healthcare technology by building solutions that help patients recover faster and decrease care costs. We are seeking a Software Engineer II (SDE II) for our growing Educate team.
This is a frontend-leaning full-stack role (~60% frontend, 40% backend) focused on building user-facing experiences while contributing across the entire stack. You will champion a strong engineering culture and drive outcomes for patients, clinicians, and organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and ship user-facing experiences in the Medbridge web application, collaborating closely with Product and Design.
- Own frontend implementation details: component design, state management, routing, forms, error states, and maintainable patterns.
- Evolve our reusable component library/design system to ensure a consistent UI.
- Ensure features are fast, accessible, and reliable, focusing on performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser behavior.
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts and integrations, contributing to backend services (Go and PHP) as needed.
- Help deliver product features incorporating AI-powered capabilities, integrating AI-backed endpoints into the UI under senior guidance.
- Participate in technical discussions and contribute to improving engineering practices.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience, with exposure to SaaS and web applications.
- Strong experience building production-quality UIs using JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern framework (Angular preferred; React/Vue experience acceptable with willingness to learn Angular).
- Solid understanding of HTML/CSS fundamentals, responsive layout, and building accessible experiences.
- Experience implementing web application features end-to-end, including integrating with APIs and third-party services.
- Working knowledge of frontend testing (unit/integration) and familiarity with end-to-end testing approaches.
- Ability to contribute to backend code (Go and PHP) and understand how backend services support frontend product experiences.
- Familiarity with relational databases like MySQL and ability to reason about data models and query patterns.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Nice To Have:
- Experience with design systems, Storybook, or building reusable component libraries.
- Experience with performance profiling, Core Web Vitals, or client-side observability.
- Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS/GCP/Azure) and basic understanding of containers (e.g., Docker).
