Job Summary
OpenVault is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Engineering team. This role can be virtual or based at the Jersey City, NJ, USA headquarters, located across the Hudson River from New York City. The selected individual will significantly influence the product life cycle and portfolio of OpenVault’s broadband solutions by engineering new software and supporting existing solutions.
The Software Engineer will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and management teams to ensure solutions align with OpenVault’s strategic vision. Key responsibilities include optimizing existing applications and developing new tools, processes, and applications that support the current solution portfolio and future product roadmaps.
Success requires fusing an in-depth understanding of application and system engineering with OpenVault’s broadband portfolio, which includes network optimization, revenue generation, and customer engagement solutions.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop innovative solutions to help OpenVault maintain industry leadership and manage increasing customer broadband data usage.
- Collaborate with marketing and UI/UX design personnel to implement enhanced customer experiences.
- Assist with customer implementations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer reported issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years’ experience in web, software, and UI development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UI/UX techniques and best practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of technologies, such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Python, and Web UI Frameworks/toolkits (Angular, React, Bootstrap, Material).
- Demonstrated knowledge of mobile technologies.
- Linux/Unix knowledge, including Bash command line and scripting.
- Proficiency in SQL/NoSQL databases and platforms.
- Proficient understanding of industry standard versioning tools and practices.
- Experience with big data architectures and ecosystem components such as Kafka.
- Self-disciplined with the ability to learn and manage work with minimal supervision or direction.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized with close attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; able to handle shifting priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications (A Plus):
- Knowledge of OpenVault products and tools.
- Industry Knowledge of DOCSIS, IPDR, CMTS, and Optical technology.
- Understanding of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- End-to-end mobile development and release experience.
