Software Engineer - Backend/Fullstack

Join our team as a Backend Developer or Full-Stack Developer. We are hiring for both Intermediate (2+ years experience) and Senior (5+ years experience) levels. This is a Full-time or Fixed-term Contract position.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer or Full-Stack Developer to enhance our growing tech team. The ideal candidate will possess strong software development experience and proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, PHP, or React. You will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and enhancing scalable applications and backend services, working collaboratively with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications and backend services.
• Develop scalable and reliable APIs, services, and application components.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and continuous improvement of development practices.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Intermediate Level: Minimum 2 years of relevant software development experience.
• Senior Level: Minimum 5 years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following programming languages:
  • Java
  • Go (Golang)
  • Python
  • PHP
  • React
• Good understanding of software development principles, OOP, data structures, APIs, and databases.
• Experience with Git/version control and modern software development practices.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Able to communicate effectively in both Mandarin and English, verbally and in writing.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Full-stack development experience with both frontend and backend technologies.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs or microservices.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, or DevOps practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Senior-Level Expectations — 5+ Years

For Senior candidates, we are looking for additional experience in:

• Designing and implementing scalable software architecture.
• Leading technical discussions and making technology recommendations.
• Mentoring junior/intermediate developers.
• Performing code reviews and ensuring development best practices.
• Troubleshooting complex technical and production issues.
• Taking ownership of projects from technical design through implementation and deployment.

Candidate Profile

We welcome candidates who are strong in one or more of the listed technologies rather than requiring expertise in all five. The key focus is solid software engineering fundamentals, hands-on development experience, and the ability to learn and adapt to different technologies.

Pay

RM3,800.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
