
Software Engineer
Join our growing team as a Software Engineer, where you'll build innovative software solutions that form the data and search backbone of the lighting industry's next generation platform.
In this role, you'll design and implement scalable systems, optimize search and matching capabilities, and develop APIs that drive our platform forward. You'll work in a highly collaborative environment that values clean architecture, best practices, performance, and innovation. Your technical expertise will directly shape our product and make a real impact on how our customers find, specify, and manage lighting projects.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable backend applications using PHP and the Symfony framework
- Build and optimize search functionality to deliver fast, accurate results
- Develop and enhance product attribution and matching architecture to intelligently relate and normalize complex datasets
- Design, document, and maintain robust APIs for enable seamless integration with Angular and external systems
- Design and optimize MySQL databases for performance, scalability, and data integrity
- Implement complex business logic using Doctrine ORM and modern PHP best practices
- Collaborate with the team to architect scalable backend solutions for data-intensive features
- Conduct code reviews, write tests, and contribute to technical architecture discussions
- Debug and resolve technical issues and bottlenecks to keep systems fast and reliable
Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience building backend systems
- Strong proficiency in modern PHP and frameworks like Symfony
- Deep understanding of relational database design and complex SQL queries
- Experience with search platforms (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or Solr)
- Proven ability to design and maintain APIs
- Experience with Doctrine ORM or similar database abstraction layers
- Self-driven and comfortable owning features from concept through deployment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with product matching, data normalization, or taxonomy
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
- Interest in applying ML/AI techniques for search, similarity, or classification
- Exposure to B2B SaaS, lighting/manufacturing or industry-specific software
- Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization techniques
- Experience with high-volume data processing or analytics

Base Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
