Senior WordPress Developer: Lead Web Design & Optimization (Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Senior WordPress Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of dynamic websites and web applications. Duties

  • Lead the end-to-end development of WordPress websites, ensuring they are visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimized for performance and SEO.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into fully functional web pages using HTML, CSS (including SCSS), JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Develop custom themes and plugins to extend WordPress functionalities, integrating third-party APIs such as RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and SOAP services.
  • Implement responsive web design principles to ensure websites are mobile-friendly across all devices.
  • Manage version control systems like GitHub and SVN; oversee code reviews, unit testing, and deployment processes within CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins or similar tools.
  • Optimize website performance by leveraging caching strategies, database tuning (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and server configurations on AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Maintain system architecture documentation and participate in Agile/Scrum development cycles using Trello or Jira for task management.
  • Utilize containerization tools such as Docker for local development environments; automate deployment with Ansible or DevOps practices.
  • Conduct regular security audits, troubleshoot issues related to web hosting environments like Apache Tomcat or IIS, and ensure compliance with best security practices.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in web development, including front-end frameworks like Angular or React Native for mobile app integrations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience developing advanced WordPress sites with custom themes and plugins in a professional setting.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS), JavaScript (TypeScript), jQuery, Bootstrap, and responsive web design techniques.
  • Solid understanding of back-end programming languages such as PHP, Python, C#, Java, or Ruby on Rails; experience with MVC frameworks is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, SQLite; ability to write complex queries for data visualization and reporting purposes.
  • Familiarity with system architecture concepts including RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, SOAP web services; experience integrating multiple data sources seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or Azure for hosting solutions; experience managing DevOps workflows using Jenkins or similar tools.
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies using Jira or Trello; familiarity with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes from planning through deployment.
  • Ability to perform unit testing and troubleshoot issues efficiently; experience with version control systems like GitHub or SVN is essential.
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and e-commerce platforms to optimize online storefronts for search engines.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
