Job Purpose

As a Senior Technical Consultant, Auth0, you will deliver hands-on implementation and deployment services to our customers. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic leader capable of quickly mastering the Auth0 platform, its technology, and its value proposition for customers of all sizes. You will lead multiple concurrent customer deployment projects, prioritizing long-term customer success. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Customer Success team to ensure smooth transitions post-deployment into support and maintenance phases. This role also involves continuous improvement of delivery processes and methods, specifically supporting Auth0 customers within the Auth0 product unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with Okta customers in a post-sales capacity, providing innovative consulting services.
  • Gather, analyze, and document post-sales requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and partners at appropriate technical and functional levels.
  • Deliver exceptional design and deployment solutions to achieve extraordinary customer satisfaction.
  • Provide prompt, high-quality service and leadership aligned with customer goals and requests.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, status, and documentation.
  • Mentor and train customers on the Okta service.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and Product Management to drive product development.
  • Lead interaction and collaboration with other Okta teams, such as Engineering and Support, for escalated issues.
  • Interact with management and various roles within customer organizations and Okta.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on existing customer up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Perform hands-on technical design, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Okta service.
  • Contribute to Okta’s growth and scalability by designing new offerings and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Manage multiple concurrent deployment projects.
  • Apply knowledge of technologies and protocols for identity federation and robust access control models, including SAML 2.0, WS-Federation, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
  • Utilize knowledge of cloud architectures and complex enterprise on-premise IT landscapes.
  • Apply software development experience (Java, Ruby, .Net, PHP, REST/JSON, etc.) in customer engagements.
  • Leverage knowledge of typical enterprise identity life cycle management processes and standards.
  • Apply experience with JavaScript and major JavaScript MVC frameworks (Backbone, Angular, Ember, React, etc.) for customer integrations.
  • Potentially mentor, guide, and provide expertise to less experienced team members.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and time management processes (e.g., change controls, time tracking).
  • Contribute to and utilize a knowledge repository for deployment best practices and customer insights for continuous improvement.
  • 25% future travel required to customer sites.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical consultant delivering solutions to external customers.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with JavaScript and a major JavaScript MVC framework (Backbone, Angular, Ember, React, Node, etc.).
  • Experience with technologies and protocols supporting identity federation and robust access control models (e.g., OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, WS-Federation).
  • Knowledge of enterprise web technologies, security, and cutting-edge infrastructures.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to support client deliverables.
  • Experience designing and implementing security and identity management solutions for critical systems and business programs.
  • Knowledge of typical enterprise identity life cycle management processes and standards.
  • Hands-on contributor mindset.
  • Superb communication skills, including issue tracking, triaging, and crisis management.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Non-JavaScript software development experience (Java, .Net, Go, C#, Flutter, PHP, etc.).
  • Experience delivering Auth0 implementations for organizations.
  • Experience with the Node.js runtime environment.
  • Mobile development experience (iOS and Android).

Compensation and Benefits

The On Target Earnings (OTE) range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area is between: $176,000—$242,000 USD.

The annual OTE range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between: $157,000—$215,600 USD. Your actual OTE, inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. Okta also offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE (On Target Earning) range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between: $157,900—$207,500 CAD.
