Senior Software Engineer (Laravel + React)

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who excels at building reliable, well-crafted software across all layers. This role involves everything from meticulously modeled Eloquent relationships to intuitive UIs that simplify complex infrastructure.

This position is ideal for a professional deeply proficient in PHP and Laravel, possessing strong instincts for backend architecture, and capable of cross-stack development to deliver polished Inertia + React interfaces when features demand it.

Location: Optimal collaboration with the team is supported between EU West and US East time zones.

What You'll Do

• Design and build full-stack features across the Laravel Cloud platform, encompassing database schema, Eloquent models, and Inertia-powered React UIs.
• Architect clean, testable Laravel backends, including Actions, Form Requests, queued jobs, event broadcasting, and multi-tenant API endpoints.
• Work across a rich domain covering applications, environments, deployments, databases, caches, filesystems, networking, DNS zones, and observability.
• Write comprehensive Pest tests for every feature, covering happy paths, failure modes, and edge cases, maintaining a high standard of codebase coverage and type safety.
• Contribute polished frontend work using React and Inertia.js, developing dashboards, resource UIs, real-time data, and complex form flows.
• Uphold engineering standards, including PHPStan/Larastan static analysis, 100% type coverage, Pint/Rector formatting, and ESLint.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver technically sound and user-friendly solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production applications with Laravel and PHP, demonstrating deep framework knowledge and strong opinions on backend code structure.
• Solid understanding of Eloquent, query optimization, database design, and preventing N+1 problems at scale.
• Experience designing and building reliable background job pipelines, event-driven processes, and queued tasks in Laravel.
• Comfort building clean RESTful or JSON:API-compliant APIs, including authentication, rate limiting, multi-tenancy, and versioning considerations.
• Strong React skills, enabling the creation of interactive, accessible, and performant UIs with hooks, real-time data, and robust component structures.
• Experience with Inertia.js or similar hybrid SPA patterns.
• Proficiency with modern frontend tooling (Vite, Tailwind CSS).
• A testing mindset, naturally utilizing Pest, treating tests as first-class code, and prioritizing coverage and type safety.
• Strong communication skills, including clear writing, constructive code reviews, and effective collaboration within an async remote team.

Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts: DNS, TLS, containers, deployments, or managed databases.
• Real-time web experience: WebSockets, Laravel Echo, event broadcasting.
• Contributions to open source projects within the Laravel ecosystem.
• Familiarity with PHPStan at a high enforcement level.
