Job Description
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of a product or a large, independent feature area – from architecture to productive operation. You will make technology decisions independently, focusing on what our customers truly need, rather than strictly adhering to a specification. AI coding agents will be your primary implementation tool: you will write specifications, orchestrate agents, and critically evaluate their results.
Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the end-to-end technical delivery of your product or feature area, including architecture and technology decisions, such as migrating to PHP 8.5 or the AWS cloud.
- You work on central components of our platform: PHP backend, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB, and Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).
- You translate customer requirements into precise specifications that coding agents can clearly implement, and you question requirements that are not technically sound.
- You evaluate AI-generated output based on results and tests, systematically checking for inconsistencies, hallucinations, and bias.
- You work as an equal partner with the Product Builder on solutions and coordinate integration interfaces with other engineering teams.
Your Profile
- Several years of experience as a Software Engineer, ideally with PHP and relational and document-based databases (MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB).
- Experience in cloud-native development and with Kubernetes (Azure AKS and/or AWS EKS).
- Practical experience working with AI coding agents: you provide specifications, orchestrate agents, and review their output.
- The ability to independently make architectural and technology decisions for a larger area of responsibility.
- Fluent in German and English.
Ideally, you also bring:
- Experience in modernizing established software systems.
- Knowledge of Responsible AI and AI governance, e.g., related to the EU AI Act.
- Experience with React, Angular, or Ionic/Capacitor, as well as with B2B2C environments requiring high availability.
