The Role

We are searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital team as a key full stack builder and technical owner. You will collaborate with a cohesive team of engineers to design, build, and maintain the products and platform powering Sharetec's Digital Banking experience, serving hundreds of credit union customers and their members.

This is a high-impact position within a focused team, featuring an ambitious roadmap. You will directly contribute to significant product modernization initiatives, deliver features across our Digital Banking applications, and play a crucial role in architecting a new API layer that will expand the capabilities of Sharetec's Digital Banking platform.

Position Details

This is a full-time, exempt, remote position available to candidates residing in any U.S. state, excluding California. The starting salary for this role ranges from $120,000 – $140,000 based on experience, plus bonus eligibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & System Design

• Partner with the Digital engineering team and leadership to design scalable, maintainable full stack systems aligned with Sharetec's Digital roadmap.
• Drive technical design discussions for active modernization initiatives and the new Digital API integration layer.
• Evaluate and recommend tooling, patterns, and architectural decisions across the frontend (React, TypeScript, Next.js) and backend (C#, ASP.NET Core) stack.
• Advocate for secure-by-default design, ensuring code is reviewed, scanned, and tested before production deployment.
• Contribute to API design standards and integration patterns that expand the reach and capabilities of Sharetec's Digital Banking platform.

Software Development & Delivery

• Build, test, and maintain production-quality features across Sharetec’s Digital Banking web and mobile platform, including iOS and Android applications built with React Native.
• Write clean, well-documented, and well-tested code across the stack (TypeScript and React on the frontend, C# and ASP.NET Core on the backend) that adheres to Sharetec's engineering standards.
• Manage work across the full lifecycle, from design and implementation through code review, testing, and production monitoring.
• Work within containerized environments using Docker and contribute to CI/CD pipeline health and reliability.
• Work with relational and cloud databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL, understanding when and how to apply the appropriate data store.
• Deliver sprint commitments reliably, identify scope risks early, and maintain a consistent, predictable delivery cadence.

Collaboration, Mentorship & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate closely with Digital engineering teammates as a peer, sharing context, participating in design reviews, and proactively supporting team success.
• Lead and contribute to code reviews that enhance codebase quality and foster team growth.
• Share knowledge of the Digital stack through documentation, pairing sessions, and team discussions.
• Support the onboarding of future Digital team members as the team expands.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, standups, retros) and contribute to continuous process improvement.
• Invest in personal growth: stay current on tools and patterns relevant to the Digital stack and Sharetec's roadmap.

Qualified Candidates Should Have

Required

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated full stack ownership.
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, including building and maintaining production-quality frontend applications.
• Experience with Next.js or a comparable server-side rendering framework.
• Experience shipping production mobile applications to the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android); our mobile apps use React Native, and candidates with native Swift or Kotlin experience are encouraged to apply.
• Solid backend development experience; our stack is C# / ASP.NET Core, and candidates with backgrounds in Node.js, Go, PHP, or other strongly-typed backend languages are welcome, with an expectation of comfort learning and working in C#.
• Solid API design and integration experience, specifically with RESTful APIs, understanding versioning, authentication, and external service integrations.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL in a production context; experience with Redis, MongoDB, or other data stores is also valued.
• Experience with Docker and containerized development or deployment environments.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to or leading the modernization of an existing production system (not exclusively greenfield projects).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote-first, async environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

• Direct experience with C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Experience with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development.
• Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, ShadCN, or modern component libraries like Radix UI or MUI.
• Background in financial services, fintech, or banking software (credit union experience is a significant plus).
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to financial software (e.g., SOC 2, PCI-DSS).
• Experience designing APIs for multi-tenant or platform-scale architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum workflows and experience in a distributed, remote engineering team.

What Success Looks Like

In Your First 30 Days

• Complete onboarding and gain a solid working understanding of Sharetec's Digital codebase, architecture, and team conventions.
• Ship your first contribution to the Digital Banking platform, small, scoped, and code-reviewed.
• Establish strong working relationships across the Digital engineering team and the broader Sharetec engineering organization.
• Participate in sprint planning and architecture discussions to begin building context on the Digital roadmap.

By 60 Days

• Own and deliver a meaningful feature end-to-end (backend API through frontend component) within one of the active Digital platform initiatives.
• Develop a point of view on the Digital stack and architecture, able to discuss trade-offs and recommend improvements.
• Establish a regular cadence of code reviews and peer collaboration with the Digital engineering team.

By 90 Days and Beyond

• Serve as a reliable technical owner for one or more modules or feature areas within the Digital platform.
• Drive or co-lead a meaningful architecture decision within a core Digital initiative.
• Actively mentor and elevate teammates through review quality, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to the Digital team's delivery velocity and predictability, reducing blockers and increasing sprint confidence.
