We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in reimagining and redeveloping TermTime, our advanced timetabling and scheduling platform used by higher education institutions globally.
TermTime is a comprehensive software solution designed to address complex scheduling challenges, enhancing curriculum planning and improving the overall learning experience for students and faculty. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a fully remote working arrangement within the UK, with occasional travel required. Salary range: £45,000 - £57,000.
The Senior Software Engineer Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our comprehensive timetabling and scheduling solutions. You will be integral to the team focused on creating a brand new, innovative, and functional advanced platform for the TermTime v9 release.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create scalable software solutions by writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Ensure high software quality by identifying and fixing bugs, writing robust integration tests, and implementing secure coding practices.
- Collaborate closely with the Software Architect, fellow developers, and testers to deliver high-quality features rapidly.
- Update and improve existing software to enhance performance and functionality, alongside writing core code for the new TermTime v9 release.
- Analyze and address complex technical challenges effectively across both legacy and modern code bases.
- Recommend innovative ideas on how the product can be developed and improved to enhance performance and usability for customers.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven expertise in full stack Web development.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, Laravel, and React, including comprehensive testing experience.
- Ability to work comfortably and effectively at pace.
- A deep understanding of best practices related to crafting secure, efficient, and high-quality code.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing agile methodologies.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding of best-practice database design principles for building efficient applications.
- Experience with API design and integrating 3rd party systems.
- Familiarity with containerized applications.
- Exposure to deploying code to (ServerLess) cloud infrastructure using CI/CD pipelines.
- Significant experience in redeveloping a product from initial concept (grass roots) through to deployment.
