Senior Shopify Developer / PHP Software Engineer (100% Remote LATAM)

EX Squared LATAM connects top engineering talent across the region with innovative digital projects. We are seeking a Senior Software Developer with extensive experience in Shopify, its native templating language Liquid, and solid knowledge of PHP.

This role requires combining deep Shopify expertise with full-stack technical proficiency to create scalable and efficient e-commerce solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain Shopify-based applications and custom storefronts utilizing Liquid templates.
• Implement, customize, and extend Shopify themes and functionalities to meet complex client requirements.
• Integrate Shopify APIs with various backend services and external systems.
• Develop and maintain PHP-based backend logic for application features, ensuring high scalability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, backend, and product teams to deliver seamless, high-quality user experiences.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Shopify performance, focusing on fast load times and responsive layouts.
• Contribute actively to code reviews, maintain clean and reusable code, and adhere to best development practices.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of professional experience in web development, preferably within e-commerce environments.
• Deep, hands-on experience with Shopify and the Liquid templating language (non-negotiable requirement).
• Strong understanding of Shopify APIs, custom themes, and storefront optimization techniques.
• Solid experience with PHP (Laravel or similar frameworks preferred).
• Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frontend practices.
• Ability to work effectively across teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on code quality and maintainability.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1) is required for confident collaboration with international teams and clients.
