WEX FSM (formerly Payzerware) is an end-to-end Field Service Management (FSM) SaaS platform designed to help contractors manage their business, boost sales, and streamline back-office operations. WEX FSM offers comprehensive business management features, including scheduling, dispatch, invoicing, sales proposals, and maintenance agreements. The platform also integrates payment and financing solutions to help contractors reduce outstanding balances, increase revenue per job, and save time.

We are seeking a Senior PHP Software Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying our flagship SaaS product, WEX FSM. You will build robust, scalable APIs that enhance our product and enable efficient partner integrations. Collaborating with Product Managers, you will translate business requirements into technical solutions. This role also involves mentoring engineers, enforcing coding standards through rigorous code reviews, and proactively reducing technical debt to maintain a healthy and scalable platform. How You'll Make an Impact

As a Senior PHP Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in modernizing and improving the performance and stability of our core SaaS product, WEX FSM. Your expertise in the Symfony PHP Framework will be key to refactoring and enhancing existing application features, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and maintainable.

You will serve as a subject matter expert in data persistence, leveraging your deep understanding of Doctrine ORM to optimize complex queries and eliminate performance bottlenecks. You will conduct in-depth analysis of MySQL execution plans and refine indexing strategies. Your contributions will be critical in delivering a faster, higher-quality user experience.

Experience You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of professional hands-on experience developing applications using PHP, Symfony, and RESTful APIs.
  • Extensive direct experience with Doctrine ORM or similar ORM, demonstrating mastery of DQL, QueryBuilder, caching strategies, and resolving N+1 problems.
  • Proven passion for MySQL query optimization, including the ability to analyze execution plans (EXPLAIN), optimize schemas, and implement efficient indexing for high-volume datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience using both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Solid grasp of microservice design patterns and best practices.
  • Required experience with API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger preferred), along with the ability to drive architectural decisions through written design documents.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Strong understanding of automated testing principles and practices (e.g., unit, integration, contract testing).
  • Act as a technical leader, assisting with new hire onboarding and conducting code reviews to enforce coding standards and best practices.

Pay Range: $121,500.00 - $145,500.00

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
