Senior PHP Backend Developer

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize high-performance, scalable backend systems using PHP and Symfony.
• Analyze existing components and continuously enhance them for quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs, documenting them to OpenAPI standards.
• Contribute to the gradual modernization of our system landscape and support the migration from on-premise solutions to modern cloud architectures.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code, actively contributing your experience to technical decisions.
• Utilize Generative AI tools for code generation, refactoring, test case creation, and documentation.
• Conduct code reviews and support colleagues with your technical expertise.
• Analyze bugs, performance issues, and stability problems, then develop sustainable solutions.
• Develop and optimize unit and integration tests, actively contributing to software quality.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and container technologies, supporting the advancement of our deployment processes.
• Develop solutions for Event-Driven Architectures and work with message brokers like RabbitMQ.
• Optimize MySQL databases for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Contribute ideas to technical discussions and collaborate closely with other developers and stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

• Completed degree or vocational training in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of professional experience in developing and enhancing complex backend systems.
• Excellent knowledge of PHP 8.x and Symfony 7.x+.
• Strong expertise in developing RESTful APIs and OpenAPI.
• Profound experience with Clean Code, object-oriented software development, and common design patterns.
• Experience with unit and integration tests, especially PHPUnit and PHPStan.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, and ideally Kubernetes.
• Good knowledge of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, particularly in performance and database optimization.
• Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and message brokers, ideally RabbitMQ.
• Experience with modern AI tools for software development and quality assurance, or a strong interest in integrating them effectively into your development process.
• Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and communicate confidently in German and English.
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented work style, with enthusiasm for solving complex technical challenges.
• High quality standards, aiming to write not just functional, but sustainably good code.
• Openness to new technologies and a willingness for continuous professional development.
