Job Summary
Lazer is actively seeking a Senior Magento Engineer to join our Commerce Team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the migration, implementation, upgrading, and optimization of Magento Commerce platforms for major enterprise brands. You will collaborate closely with clients, lead projects, and ensure seamless integrations, peak performance, and effective bug resolution across the Magento ecosystem. Your expertise will drive the creation of scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions, working alongside one of the market's strongest Magento-focused engineering teams.
Please Note: This is a Contract position with an hourly rate. Candidates should align their working hours with Eastern Time (ET) or Pacific Time (PT).
The Role
Magento Implementation & Migration:
- Lead comprehensive Magento Commerce implementations, migrations, and upgrades for enterprise clients.
- Migrate eCommerce platforms from legacy systems such as Salesforce, Shopify, WooCommerce, or BigCommerce to Magento.
- Manage extensive data migrations, including customer, order, and product data.
Magento Upgrades & Performance Optimization:
- Upgrade Magento versions to the latest releases, ensuring backward compatibility and smooth operation.
- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure and performance bottlenecks, along with server-related issues, to enhance site speed and reliability.
- Implement scalability improvements for high-traffic eCommerce platforms.
Troubleshooting & Bug Fixing:
- Debug and resolve issues related to broken functionality, integrations, or third-party extensions.
- Ensure PCI compliance, adhere to security best practices, and implement performance optimizations in all Magento solutions.
Custom Development & Integrations:
- Develop custom Magento modules, extensions, and integrations for ERP (e.g., NetSuite), OMS, WMS, and other third-party platforms.
- Work with headless commerce architectures, integrating Magento with modern frontends like React, Next.js, or Vue.js.
- Develop and maintain APIs and microservices connecting Magento to other enterprise systems.
Further Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with Magento Commerce (Adobe Commerce).
- Expertise in PHP, Magento 2, MySQL, and GraphQL, with strong backend development experience.
- Extensive experience in Magento upgrades, performance tuning, and debugging complex eCommerce applications.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for hosting and scaling Magento applications.
- Understanding of Magento theming, PWA (Progressive Web Apps), and modern frontend frameworks.
- Experience integrating Magento with ERP, CMS, OMS, and WMS solutions.
- Proactive problem-solver with strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently, take project ownership, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
