We are seeking a skilled Senior Java Backend Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess primary expertise in Java, capable of crafting and maintaining robust backend services and APIs that adhere to modern standards and best practices. This role involves driving innovation, owning solutions, optimizing performance, mentoring team members, and upholding coding standards to deliver top-tier solutions, particularly within the iGaming sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java to support our platform.
- Own solutions and contribute to achieving team goals.
- Assist in the decommissioning of legacy PHP systems.
- Collaborate with integration teams and external providers for seamless service connectivity.
- Optimize application performance and scalability through code refactoring, caching mechanisms, and best practices.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by internal teams or customers promptly.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Promote effective team communication and foster a culture of learning and mentorship.
Required Skills & Experience
- High proficiency in Java programming language with a strong understanding of object-oriented principles and design patterns.
- Prior experience in iGaming, specifically within a Game Studio, with experience building slot game backends.
- In-depth knowledge of the Spring Technology stack.
- Proficiency with both relational and NoSQL databases, and caching systems.
- Familiarity with RESTful API design principles and experience in building and consuming APIs.
- Experience with event streaming systems and microservices, comfortable building applications using Kafka.
- Experience in development using CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Experience in PHP is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven fluency in English.
- Openness to assuming on-call responsibilities after an initial system familiarization period.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; exceptional candidates will be considered.
