Your Impact at MyEdSpace
As a key contributor, you will help build and evolve our online learning platform, focusing on clarity, robust domain design, and long-term scalability. Your work will be crucial in integrating new Java/Node.js services and a modern React frontend, shaping the system architecture and product scalability. What We’re Looking For
- Strong full-stack engineering experience: Deep backend expertise in Java, Node.js, or other modern stacks, combined with solid React + TypeScript skills. Comfortable building both services and user interfaces.
- AI-augmented engineering: Natural integration of AI tools into your workflow to accelerate development and explore solutions. Possess strong engineering judgment to review, challenge, and harden AI-generated code for production readiness.
- Engineering fundamentals over frameworks: A focus on system design, data modeling, trade-offs, and long-term maintainability. Views languages and frameworks as tools.
- Multi-stack pragmatism: Comfortable working in a production environment spanning Java, Node, React, and existing PHP systems, with an ability to incrementally improve evolving architectures.
- Architectural maturity: Understanding of boundaries, contracts, invariants, and the impact of local decisions on overall system coherence.
- Production ownership: Proficiency with CI/CD, containerization, cloud environments (AWS), and observability, taking ownership of code beyond the merge.
- Value-driven mindset: Committed to solving the right problems sustainably, not just shipping features.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and building end-to-end product features across backend services and the React frontend.
- Developing well-structured, testable backend services and clean, reusable frontend components, with a focus on performance, usability, and long-term maintainability.
- Contributing to a multi-stack production environment, thoughtfully improving existing systems while evolving the overall architecture.
- Modeling domains, defining boundaries, and contributing to architectural decisions for system coherence and scalability.
- Utilizing AI tools to accelerate development, while rigorously reviewing, validating, and refining generated code for production.
- Owning work beyond feature delivery, including CI/CD, observability, performance, and production behavior.
- Participating in code reviews and technical discussions, emphasizing clarity, trade-offs, and engineering judgment.
- Improving platform reliability, security, and operational robustness as the platform grows.
- Elevating engineering standards through thoughtful feedback, pragmatic decisions, and continuous improvement.
Our Interview Process
- People Team Intro (30 mins): A conversation to align on motivations, collaboration styles, and MyEdSpace's ways of working.
- Coding Exercise (take-home, 2–3 hours): An assessment of practical engineering skills, including architecture, clean code, testing, and problem-solving. Use of AI coding tools is encouraged.
- Technical Interview (1 hour): A deep dive into your coding exercise, engineering approach, past projects, technical decisions, and systems thinking, joined by tech leads or other engineers.
- Culture & Collaboration Interview (45 mins): A final conversation with our VP of Engineering to assess team fit, communication style, and alignment with our values.
