We are actively seeking a Senior ERP Developer & Application Owner (m/f/d) for our Halle(Saale) location, offering hybrid work options, for a full-time position to start as soon as possible.

Your Profile

You are not intimidated by a PHP codebase that has evolved over 20 years; instead, you identify exciting challenges within complex, historically grown systems. As the technical lead, you will drive the modernization of a business-critical enterprise application, progressively transforming a mature monolith into a future-proof solution.

You will operate at the intersection of business departments, development teams, and external partners, evaluating technical options, making crucial architectural decisions, and providing clear guidance to the team. This role offers significant creative freedom, the support of an experienced team, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a core application.

Your Tasks

• Code Analysis & Inventory: Dive deep into the existing codebase to understand its structures, dependencies, and critical paths, even where documentation is sparse.
• Application Ownership: Assume technical responsibility for the application, acting as the central point of contact for architecture, quality, and ongoing development.
• Modernization Support: Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement a realistic, step-by-step migration strategy.
• Architectural Decisions: Evaluate technical options, make well-founded decisions, and communicate them clearly to both the team and business stakeholders.
• Team Development: Work closely with the existing team, actively fostering knowledge transfer and skill enhancement.
• Bridge Builder between IT and Business: Translate complex technical concepts into understandable language for business departments and top management, ensuring transparency and clear direction. You will be an active communication partner, not just a developer.

What You Bring

• Several years of experience in PHP development. You are proficient with modern frameworks and capable of integrating into and understanding the architecture of established legacy systems.
• Experience in the evolution of complex software landscapes. Ideally, you have participated in modernization initiatives and are familiar with approaches such as microservices, API-based architectures, or data abstraction layers.
• Strong architectural understanding. You think holistically about systems, not just individual features, and can evaluate technical decisions with a long-term perspective.
• Excellent communication skills and a high degree of personal responsibility. You work autonomously, drive initiatives forward, and provide clear guidance to diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to take ownership. You aspire not only to develop but also to actively shape technical decisions and oversee their implementation.
• Ability to translate between technology and business. You can present complex technical information in a way that enables business departments, managers, and executives to make informed decisions, even with incomplete initial information.
• Comfort with uncertainty and incomplete knowledge. You can assess technical risks and prepare decisions, even when historical contexts or system details are not fully known at the outset.
