About the Role
We are searching for a Senior Engineering Manager to head our Infrastructure organization, which forms the core foundation of our developer-focused cloud platform. You will manage four Engineering Team Leads, each responsible for their own area and team of senior infrastructure engineers. This encompasses platform components such as Kubernetes (EKS), AWS, networking, storage, observability, and internal infrastructure services.
This position includes oversight of our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practice, led by our SRE Team Lead. This covers on-call rotations, incident response, and the reliability engineering efforts crucial for maintaining platform availability and performance for our customers.
You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and leadership to deliver a platform developers value, while promoting technical excellence, operational maturity, and organizational health across your teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of Engineering Team Leads, including Infrastructure and SRE leads.
- Establish standards for how leads manage, develop, and grow their engineers.
- Cultivate an engineering culture emphasizing autonomy, ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Support career development through 1:1s, goal setting, and consistent feedback for direct reports and the wider organization.
- Collaborate with leadership to define strategy, resourcing, and roadmap for the infrastructure organization.
- Own reliability, availability, and performance outcomes across the platform, including SRE practices (on-call, incident response, SLOs/SLIs).
- Drive the adoption of infrastructure best practices like GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and security.
- Partner with product teams to shape and define requirements for upcoming projects.
- Clearly communicate technical direction and priorities to leads, engineers, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Work with other engineering leaders to ensure seamless platform experiences.
