Senior DevOps Engineer

As our Senior DevOps Engineer, you will own the DevOps function, build your dream infrastructure, and be the expert in all things DevOps.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, high-availability infrastructure using Docker and Ansible.
- Implement and enforce best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and security.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD for seamless automated deployments.
- Implement security best practices across infrastructure and applications, ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Proactively suggest and implement system, process, and workflow enhancements.
- Participate in architectural discussions, offering insights from development and DevOps perspectives.
- Support your own work with backend development (PHP).
- Manage MySQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data migrations.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Strong understanding of AWS (or Azure or Google Cloud).
- Expertise in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
- Strong experience configuring and managing Apache, Nginx, and HAProxy for web hosting and load balancing.
- Proficient in monitoring tools like Nagios, Icinga, and Grafana.
- Deep knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing) in secure, scalable environments.
- Awareness of security best practices, especially when handling sensitive healthcare data.
- Experience with New Relic for application performance monitoring and optimization.
- Solid experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
- Strong PHP development skills (preferably with Symfony or Laravel frameworks).
- Strong experience with MySQL, including design, optimization, and management.

Administrative Info:
- Location: Remote - anywhere in the European Union (offices in Italy & Germany, no relocation support).
- Contract: Fixed-term contract of 1 year, with the aim of renewing to an indefinite term.
- Working Hours: Monday - Friday | 09:00 - 18:00 | 1-hour lunch break.
- Salary Range: €50,000 - €65,000
- Trial Period: Dependent on the country of residence.
- Start Date: Starting July/August 2025
