Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an effective teacher passionate about equipping others. You should have at least 3 years of experience in a developer, support, or solutions role, totaling 5+ years of experience across builder roles (e.g., data scientist, developer), educator roles (e.g., developer advocate, educator), or customer-facing roles (e.g., solution architect).
You must be able to explain complex topics simply. You will develop a strong understanding of MongoDB's core capabilities, data modeling, and industry trends, guiding users to discover platform capabilities including Vector Search and Voyage AI.
You will collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Analytics, etc.) across time zones, supporting peer reviews of code, demos, and content. A genuine passion for increasing developer productivity and success is essential.
Position Expectations
- Develop expertise in core MongoDB database functionality and Atlas features such as Search, Vector Search, Data Federation, Online Archive, and Streaming.
- Develop and deliver workshops, webinars, and design reviews for general audiences and specific customers to enable the creation of MongoDB document schemas for their workloads.
- Communicate insights gathered from developer engagement (via code and content) to inform team members and enable other developers.
- Create technical content across various formats and channels to evangelize and educate developers.
- Deliver virtual and in-person developer enablement sessions to audiences up to 400 developers.
Requirements
- Experience creating effective developer-focused code and content.
- At least 5 years of experience in both customer-facing and developer-centric roles (e.g., Technical Support, Solutions Architecture, Developer Relations), working with development teams on high-performance, scalable database implementations.
- At least 3 years of experience (or equivalent) consulting with development teams as a non-member.
- Proficiency with at least one popular language: Java, Python, or Javascript.
- Familiarity with 2 or more popular languages: Java, Python, Javascript or Typescript, C#, Rust, PHP.
- Strong presentation skills (in-person and virtually), including conducting live streams and public speaking at events.
- Written and spoken English language proficiency.
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 10%), primarily within the UK and Europe, and attend team meetings.
- Ability and willingness to shift working schedule to accommodate overlap with US or Asia time zones.
- Experience specifically with MongoDB or similar NoSQL/document databases is a plus.
