The Senior Software Developer (Data Engineer) plays a pivotal role on an Agile development team (Scrum or Kanban) within the PHP Information Services (IS) Department. This senior position involves driving collaboration, mentoring peers, and shaping technical direction. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex challenges, influence decisions, and champion Agile principles.

What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements for data file requests to design, develop, and deploy fully automated ETL jobs for data file production.
  • Design, develop, and deploy ETL programs to facilitate data receipt from various sources and load data into destination tables within the overall data architecture framework.
  • Collaborate on designing end-to-end solutions for file creation and distribution, alongside supporting ETL production processes and operations.
  • Utilize advanced understanding of healthcare data models to identify data sources and map data to required file specifications.
  • Design and automate data quality and data validation functions as part of the overall solution.
  • Leverage expertise in ETL and the MS SQL platform for performance tuning of data management technologies.
  • Perform analysis, data relationships, data aggregation, and summarization tasks.
  • Conduct technical peer reviews and code reviews.
  • Participate in reviewing potential technical architectures and solutions to improve existing systems, processes, and data services.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree -OR- Bachelor’s Degree -OR- a combination of equivalent education/experience.
  • 8 or more years of demonstrated software development experience in an enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Data Engineering & Technology Expertise)

  • 8 or more years of experience working in data engineering.
  • 1 or more years of Healthcare Care experience.
  • Expertise in MS SQL server (T-SQL, SQL server).
  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehouse systems.
  • Experience in building Data Pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
  • Proficient with ETL tools (SSIS/Fivetran).
  • Working Knowledge in job scheduling tools like Automic, Tidal.
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles and Data warehouse principles.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell.
  • Expertise in database architecture, storage and Query Optimizer.
  • Extensive background in business intelligence tools (e.g., SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).
  • Architectural understanding of reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS, Crystal Reports and PowerBI).
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops.
  • Experience with Git, Visual Studio, Visual Code are preferred.
  • Working knowledge in .Net 4.5 or greater would be an added advantage.
  • Microsoft SharePoint: Experience with 2010 and 2013.
  • Microsoft SharePoint: Experience with InfoPath and ShareGate tools.

  • California: All Northern California - Except Humboldt: Min: $61.04, Max: $96.35
  • California: Southern California: Min: $54.40, Max: $85.88
  • Oregon: Non-Portland Service Area: Min: $48.65, Max: $76.80
  • Oregon: Portland Service Area: Min: $52.19, Max: $82.39
  • Washington: Western: Min: $54.40, Max: $85.88
