Senior Data Engineer (Software Developer) - Providence Health Plan - Remote

The Senior Software Developer (Data Engineer) is a pivotal role within the PHP Information Services (IS) Department, working on an Agile development team (Scrum or Kanban). This senior position requires expertise beyond coding, focusing on driving collaboration, mentoring peers, and shaping technical direction. You will solve complex data challenges, influence key decisions, and champion Agile principles to deliver impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements for data file requests to design, develop, and deploy fully automated ETL jobs to produce data files.
• Design, develop, and deploy ETL programs to facilitate data receipt from various sources and loading data into destination tables within the overall data architecture framework.
• Collaborate on designing end-to-end solutions for file creation and distribution, and support ETL production processes and operations.
• Utilize advanced understanding of healthcare data models to identify data sources and map data to required file specifications.
• Design and automate data quality and data validation functions as part of the overall solution.
• Leverage expertise in ETL and the MS SQL platform to perform performance tuning of technologies to manage data.
• Experience in analysis, data relationships, data aggregation, and summarization.
• Perform technical peer reviews and code reviews.
• Participate in reviewing potential technical architectures and solutions to improve and enhance existing systems, processes, and data services.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree -OR- Bachelor’s Degree -OR- a combination of equivalent education/experience.
• 8 or more years of demonstrated software development experience in an enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Data Engineering & Technology Expertise):

• 8 or more years of experience working in data engineering.
• 1 or more years of Healthcare Care experience.
• Expertise in MS SQL server (T-SQL, SQL server).
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data warehouse systems.
• Experience in building Data Pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
• Proficient with ETL tools (SSIS/Fivetran).
• Working Knowledge in job scheduling tools like Automic, Tidal.
• In-depth understanding of database structure principles and Data warehouse principles.
• Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell.
• Expertise in database architecture, storage and Query Optimizer.
• Extensive background in business intelligence tools (e.g., SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).
• Architectural understanding of reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS, Crystal Reports and PowerBI).
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops.
• Experience with Git, Visual Studio, Visual Code are preferred.
• Working knowledge in .Net 4.5 or greater would be an added advantage.
• Microsoft SharePoint: Experience with 2010 and 2013.
• Microsoft SharePoint: Experience with InfoPath and ShareGate tools.

• California: Humboldt: Min: $54.40, Max: $85.88
• California: All Northern California - Except Humboldt: Min: $61.04, Max: $96.35
• California: Southern California: Min: $54.40, Max: $85.88
• Oregon: Non-Portland Service Area: Min: $48.65, Max: $76.80
• Oregon: Portland Service Area: Min: $52.19, Max: $82.39
• Washington: Western: Min: $54.40, Max: $85.88
• Washington: Southwest - Olympia, Centralia: Min: $52.19, Max: $82.39
• Washington: Clark County: Min: $52.19, Max: $82.39
• Washington: Eastern: Min: $46.44, Max: $73.31
• Washington: Southeastern: Min: $48.65, Max: $76.80

The listed amounts represent the base pay range. Additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Placement within the range is determined by relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
