Senior Backup Analyst / Veeam Specialist

Responsibilities and Attributions:

Act as a technical reference for Veeam Backup & Replication, specializing in architecture, performance, advanced tuning, and protection of critical environments, particularly Microsoft SQL Server in a cluster (AlwaysOn / Failover Cluster). The professional will be responsible for enhancing the technical level of the current solution, resolving structural bottlenecks, and ensuring adherence to Veeam's best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

• Administer, support, and evolve the Veeam Backup & Replication environment
• Act as technical lead for architecture and solution tuning
• Perform advanced performance troubleshooting (CPU, Proxy, Network, Target, Repository)
• Diagnose and correct structural bottlenecks in large-scale environments
• Design and validate sizing for:
  • Proxies
  • Repositories
  • SOBR (Scale-Out Backup Repository)
  • Tasks and concurrency
• Implement and optimize protection for:
  • Microsoft SQL Server (Standalone, Cluster, AlwaysOn)
  • High-frequency log backup
  • Application-aware processing
• Structure segregation of repositories and policies for critical workloads
• Review and optimize retention policies (GFS, Synthetic Full, Active Full)
• Implement Fast Clone best practices (ReFS / XFS)
• Plan and validate Disaster Recovery strategies
• Execute periodic recovery tests (VM, SQL granular, Instant Recovery)
• Ensure adherence to security and compliance policies
• Support technical audits
• Document architecture, flows, and capacity planning
• Interact with Infrastructure, Security, and Projects teams

Mandatory Technical Requirements:

• Solid and proven experience with Veeam Backup & Replication (advanced level)
• Practical experience in medium to large environments
• Experience with:
  • Microsoft SQL Server (application-aware backup)
  • SQL Cluster / AlwaysOn
  • Log backup and truncation troubleshooting
• Experience in Veeam Bottleneck analysis
• Advanced knowledge in:
  • Tasks and repository concurrency
  • Proxy transport modes (HotAdd, NBD, Direct SAN)
  • Synthetic Full vs Active Full
  • SOBR and performance tier
• Experience with enterprise storage (SAN, All-Flash, NVMe)
• Experience with Linux systems for repositories (XFS)
• Knowledge of ReFS and Fast Clone
• Experience in VMware and/or Hyper-V environments
• Knowledge of networks and throughput for backup

Highly Desirable Differentiators:

• Veeam Certification (VMCE or higher)
• Experience in high-volume environments (several TBs / hundreds of VMs)
• Experience with Hardened Repository (immutable Linux)
• Knowledge of Object Storage (S3 / Azure Blob)
• Experience in compliance and audit environments
• Experience troubleshooting with Veeam support
