Senior PHP Backend Developer - Insurance Technology (Remote Germany)

Key Responsibilities:

• Development: Design and develop robust, scalable web applications and service-oriented interfaces to integrate complex business logic across various projects. Ensure sustainable maintenance and technological advancement of legacy systems and existing applications.
• Operations & Support: Serve as the technical contact for Third-Level Support. Analyze functional requirements, identify incident root causes, and proactively assist with solution finding and release planning. Apply expertise in Incident Response processes, including escalation, stakeholder communication, and documentation.
• Database Architecture: Plan, administer, and optimize databases, focusing on system efficiency and scalability to support future applications.
• Coordination: Coordinate tasks within the team, translating functional specifications into clear, structured sprint phases while maintaining focus on project goals.
• Requirements Analysis: Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders to evaluate new functional and technical requirements, translating them into viable solution concepts and providing consultative input during planning.
• Documentation: Independently create and maintain development documentation to ensure knowledge is secured and readily accessible.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience: University degree in Computer Science or comparable training, coupled with at least five years of experience in backend development within the PHP environment.
• PHP Development Know How: Profound experience with PHP (versions 7.3 to 8.4), PHP frameworks (Symfony, Laravel, Slim, etc.), database administration using MySQL, SOAP web services, and JSON APIs.
• Teamwork: Experience working and communicating effectively within development teams (Git/GitLab, SCRUM).
• Quality Assurance: Familiarity with automated testing techniques (e.g., Codeception). Ability to conduct independent Code Reviews to uphold code quality. Must react quickly and solution-oriented to technical incidents and implement critical hotfixes to ensure system stability.
• Frameworks: Comprehensive practical experience utilizing PHP frameworks (e.g., Symfony, Laravel) and familiarity with modern package management systems like Composer.
• Analytical Skills: Quick comprehension and ability to rapidly integrate into new topics.
• Language: Negotiable German language skills required (minimum C2 level).
