Remote PHP Developer (UK)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are hiring an experienced PHP Developer (3–12 years experience) for a remote role based in the UK. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. This role focuses on developing robust backend services and applications using modern PHP frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain PHP-based applications, APIs, and backend services.
• Write clean, maintainable, and secure code adhering to industry best practices.
• Utilize modern PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Collaborate effectively with front-end developers, QA engineers, and product teams.
• Integrate databases, manage schema design, and optimize query performance (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Support deployment pipelines and actively participate in CI/CD processes.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications for enhanced performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving overall development standards.
• Work collaboratively within Agile/Scrum environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–12 years of professional experience as a PHP Developer.
• Strong experience with PHP 7+ / PHP 8+.
• Hands-on experience with at least one modern framework:
  • Laravel (preferred)
  • Symfony
  • CodeIgniter
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and MVC architecture.
• Proficiency in relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Understanding of version control systems (Git).
• Experience with unit testing and TDD/BDD frameworks (PHPUnit, Pest, Behat).
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or containerized environments.

Pay: £45,000.00-£85,000.00 per year
