Company Overview
Truegenics Pte Ltd is a leading e-commerce company based in Singapore, boasting over US$218M in online product sales. We specialize in e-retailing our own brand of health supplements to a global audience. Our mission is to create value and make a positive difference, committed to developing products that enhance the lives of our consumers.
What this role is
We are seeking a Product Manager for IT & Internal Platforms who combines an engineering mindset with product ownership skills. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will be responsible for the internal systems and tools critical to business operations, overseeing development, strategic direction, and functional effectiveness.
This role requires proactive engagement with teams to deeply understand their challenges, translating these into actionable engineering solutions. Success is built on asking insightful questions, making informed technical decisions, and ensuring successful implementation, rather than solely writing code.
You will serve as the vital link between our independent engineering team and the broader business, shielding the team from distractions and providing the technical understanding necessary for discussions on architecture, tradeoffs, and strategic direction.
What you'll actually do
- Own Internal Products End-to-End (~30%): Take full ownership of internal IT products and systems, from problem identification and solution direction to shipping and iteration. You will guide architectural and implementation decisions with the engineering team, ensuring product clarity for efficient execution.
- Solve Problems and Build Things (~25%): Leverage your technical foundation to diagnose system issues and identify root causes. You will have the autonomy to develop smaller internal tools that enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
- Keep Delivery Moving (~15%): Utilize our internal AI assistant for project logging and prioritization to ensure timely completion of tasks, resolve inter-departmental priority conflicts, and maintain project momentum without administrative burden.
- Run IT Operations (~15%): Act as the primary escalation point for company-wide IT incidents, including domain renewals, certificates, broken integrations, and system outages. This involves both immediate problem resolution and proactive prevention.
- Be the Bridge (~15%): Facilitate communication between the engineering team and other departments. You will translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure the engineering team's focus is protected while addressing departmental IT needs.
Who this is for
This role is ideal for individuals with significant software development experience who understand complex systems, can ask incisive technical questions, and contribute to architectural discussions. Your passion lies in defining what needs to be built, understanding its impact, and ensuring its successful development, rather than daily coding.
You are seeking a role with substantial product ownership, offering opportunities for growth and impact. While formal team management experience is not required, you are a natural leader whom others trust and turn to for guidance, capable of empowering teams while ensuring strategic alignment.
On learning and tooling
We embrace rapid changes in software development, exemplified by our early adoption of an end-to-end AI customer support agent. We value curiosity and the ability to explore and implement new possibilities.
We do not expect expertise in all our specific tools. What matters is a genuine excitement for discovering and implementing better solutions, fostering an environment where you can explore, learn, and apply new knowledge.
What we'd like you to bring
- 5+ years in a technical role with close involvement in software development, such as a developer, technical lead, or product manager with strong engineering fluency.
- Proven experience owning outcomes, not just tasks, demonstrating responsibility for critical systems.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to problem-solve effectively without complete information.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with department leaders, bridge technical and non-technical discussions, and build trust across the organization.
- Sufficient technical depth to engage in meaningful conversations about systems, architecture, and tradeoffs, even if you're not the one implementing every solution.
Technical foundation
We prioritize a fundamental understanding of how software and systems operate over specific stack experience. A background in coding, building, or maintaining real-world systems, or a deep understanding of the development process, is key. The specific language or framework is less critical, as strong fundamentals enable quick adoption of new technologies.
Our current environment includes PHP (Laravel), Vue.js, Node.js, and Bun for applications, with AWS infrastructure (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Kinesis). Some projects involve data visualization tools like Tableau and DOMO. This information is provided for context, not as a prerequisite for existing knowledge.
We highly value individuals who grasp core principles: inter-system communication, performance bottlenecks, and effective questioning for evaluating technical approaches. This foundational thinking is transferable across any language or platform.
Job Type: Full-time
