About the Role
Join Twilio's EMEA team as a Presales Engineer, focusing on New Business and Strategic segments. This critical sales role enables customers to build the future of communications by securing the Technical Win and ensuring the best Product Fit.
Presale Engineers lead the technical pre-sales relationship, driving technical discovery, proposing technical architectures, demonstrating products, anticipating concerns, and offering creative solutions. You will build customer trust in Twilio’s solutions.
This role requires autonomy, driving the technical aspects of most opportunities independently. You will also provide leadership and deal support within the Presale Engineer organization, participating in architectural decisions, coordinating with Twilio product teams, and driving the design and execution of medium to large projects.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives to execute pre-sales activities, including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, Proof-of-Concept (PoC), RFP responses, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
- Lead the technical and product sale, recommending best-practice solutions and guiding customers on utilizing Twilio’s APIs to achieve success.
- Act as a trusted advisor by leading technical discovery to understand customer pains, designing, demonstrating, and presenting innovative solutions that solve business challenges.
- Build and present highly interactive, complex, and engaging product demonstrations showcasing Twilio’s Communications Products capabilities.
- Form strong customer relationships with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Be a hands-on, high-energy, passionate, and creative problem solver, capable of leading others to success.
- Identify and solve problems proactively for customers and within the organization.
- Contribute to the broader Twilio Presale Engineering community through knowledge sharing, constructing demonstration materials, and creating reusable presentations.
- Mentor less experienced Presale Engineers.
Qualifications
Required:
- 8+ years of pre-sales experience selling complex, technical products, OR 10+ years of professional experience supporting technical products coupled with customer-facing experience (delivery or consulting).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to gain audience confidence and communicate complex topics to multiple levels of audience (engaging storyteller).
- Ability to deeply understand a customer’s communications needs and guide them toward a technical solution.
- Previous software development experience or working knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP)
- Web development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, frontend frameworks - React, Vue.js, Angular)
- Experience building with REST APIs
- Previous experience in Telecom, SIP, Contact Center, or Security.
- Experience with sales methodologies.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.
Desired:
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and cloud application architecture.
- Experience working with customers in UK, Ireland, and the Nordics.
Location & Travel
This role is remote and based in the UK.
Approximately 25% travel is anticipated for in-person connection with customers and colleagues.
