PHP Technical Lead Developer / Lead Engineer – 100% Remote SaaS Platform Role

You will maintain the overall technical architecture, structure complex topics into clear decision bases, and provide technical leadership to the team, ensuring our product continues to grow reliably, scalably, and cleanly.

Your Responsibilities

Technical Conception & Architecture

• Moderate technical discussions, drive them to resolution, and document the outcomes.
• Translate outcomes into sprint-ready work: break down decisions into actionable deliverables, defining tickets/epics including scope, dependencies, risks, and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate technical dependencies across teams.
• Ensure consistent system architecture for our SaaS platform (PHP/CakePHP).
• Identify risks early (complexity, performance, security, maintainability) and implement countermeasures.
• Plan effectively: determine what needs to be done now, later, or never.

Team Leadership & Engineering Excellence

• Provide technical direction, set standards, and elevate code quality.
• Help the team deliver faster through structure, clarity, and effective interfaces.
• Support the segmentation of work into manageable packages: understandable, testable, and deliverable.

Product-Near Development

• Independently implement demanding features—hands-on, clean, and maintainable.
• Collaborate closely with Product/Stakeholders, translating requirements into robust solutions.
• Contribute technical perspective to roadmap and prioritization decisions.

What You Bring

• Several years of experience as a Senior Engineer / Tech Lead in production environments.
• Very strong knowledge of PHP and ideally CakePHP.
• Experience with complex SaaS systems.
• You are a structured thinker: able to reduce complexity, argue clearly, and make decisions traceable.
• Ability to communicate technical topics so stakeholders can quickly evaluate and decide.
• Reliable and pragmatic, without sacrificing quality.
