JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Maintenance Engineer, you focus on improving existing software landscapes. You do not work on quick fixes or temporary solutions, but on structural improvements that make systems more stable, faster, and easier to maintain. You operate across teams and support various development teams in challenging modernization and migration processes. In doing so, you analyze existing applications, identify technical risks, and work on solutions that significantly improve the lifespan and quality of the software.
An important part of your work consists of upgrading frameworks and libraries, refactoring complex codebases, and reducing technical debt. In addition, you help teams perform migrations and modernize legacy environments. You look critically at performance, stability, and maintainability, and ensure that systems are ready for future developments. This role is ideal for a developer who likes to dive deep into existing systems, does not shy away from technical challenges, and derives satisfaction from structurally improving software that organizations rely on daily.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with PHP (and Symfony framework)
- Experience with various Symfony versions and migration processes
- Demonstrable experience with legacy modernization
- Experience with Bash, CI/CD, and automation
- Knowledge of dependency management and upgrade processes
- Knowledge of Moodle, Elasticsearch, Redis, or NoSQL is a plus
