We are actively seeking a skilled PHP Engineer to join our backend team, focusing on customer verification. This is a critical technological area at PayPo, directly influencing our business's security and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to systems responsible for:
- AML (Anti-Money Laundering) processes, including customer identity verification and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Integrations with external databases, connecting to various sources and registers for real-time customer data verification.
- Card transactions, ensuring secure and efficient processing of card payments.
The systems you help build will directly impact transaction security at a rapidly expanding business scale, handling 22.5 million transactions annually. Our current team includes a Product Owner, PHP Technical Leader, 4 PHP Developers, an Analyst, and an Automation Tester. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and evolving modular, microservice-based, and scalable solutions, significantly influencing the architecture, quality, and performance of systems used by millions of customers and thousands of partner stores.

Your Main Tasks
- Design and develop systems utilizing PHP 8+ and Symfony 6+.
- Analyze business requirements and assess their impact on system architecture.
- Design, build, and evolve microservices, including integration with external APIs.
- Optimize system performance, code quality, and architecture.
- Maintain and refactor existing code to ensure optimal performance, quality, and adherence to best practices.
- Build and integrate event-driven applications (e.g., RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, Webhooks).
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in SQL (MySQL 8+) and NoSQL for query optimization and data modeling.
- Possess practical experience with Docker in daily development workflows.
- Apply expertise in web application design principles.
- Design, version, and secure APIs (REST, OAuth, JWT).
- Utilize data caching mechanisms (Redis, AWS ElastiCache) and application profiling techniques.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of Git.
- Apply practical understanding of layered and hexagonal architecture (ports and adapters).
- Work with AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Employ static code analysis tools (PHPStan, CSFixer).
- Understand CI/CD concepts and practices.
- Perform unit, functional, integration, and E2E tests (PHPUnit).
- Utilize development support tools such as PHPStorm, Composer, Xdebug, Sentry, Jira.
- Integrate AI tools like Claude Code into daily development.
Nice to Have
- Experience in customer verification, AML/KYC, or the fintech sector.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Experience working with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
- Knowledge of application security best practices (OWASP).

Formal Requirements

Salary Range
UoP: 19,000 - 22,000 PLN gross
B2B: 19,000 - 22,000 PLN net
Candidates can choose between B2B or UoP contract types. This is a full-time position with remote or hybrid work options.

III. We will process your data:

- in the case of a candidate – a natural person not conducting sole proprietorship, for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process, based on the authorization resulting from Art. 22¹ of the Labor Code, in the scope of: name and surname, date of birth, contact details, education, professional qualifications and course of previous employment. The basis for processing the above-mentioned personal data is a legal obligation (Art. 6 para. 1 c GDPR),
- in the case of a candidate – a natural person not conducting sole proprietorship, for the purpose of taking action at the request of the data subject before concluding a contract (Art. 6 para. 1 b GDPR),
- in the case of a candidate – a natural person not conducting sole proprietorship, for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process, based on your consent to the processing of your personal data, i.e., personal data other than those indicated in the point above, provided in the CV, form, cover letter and other documents. The legal basis for processing is the aforementioned consent (Art. 6 para. 1 a GDPR),
- for the purpose of realizing the legitimate interest of the administrator in the scope of data obtained from you during the recruitment process in connection with checking your skills and abilities necessary for work in the position specified in the announcement. The legal basis for processing your data is our legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR),
- for the purpose of realizing the legitimate interest of the administrator in the event of a legal need to demonstrate facts, demonstrate the fulfillment of obligations. The legal basis for processing these data is our legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR),
- for the purpose of conducting future recruitment processes, based on your consent to the processing of personal data provided in the CV, form, cover letter and other documents. The legal basis for processing is this consent (Art. 6 para. 1 a GDPR).
In accordance with GDPR, you have the right to request access to your personal data and receive a copy thereof, the right to request their rectification (correction), erasure or restriction of processing, as well as the right to data portability and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing (if processing is based on consent) carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
You have the right to object at any time to the processing of data processed on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR, indicated above in point III.

Furthermore, in accordance with GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
Data retention period
- in the scope indicated in point III. 1-6, your data will be stored for a period of 30 days from the end of this recruitment,
- in the scope indicated in point III. 7, your personal data will be stored for a period of 12 months from the date of expressing consent.
Your personal data may be transferred to processors who provide services to the Administrator based on concluded entrustment agreements (IT service providers, including hosting services and services supporting HR processes, as well as recruitment portal operators).
VII. Providing personal data is voluntary, but it is a condition for participation in recruitment. In the case of a candidate – a natural person not conducting sole proprietorship, we require the provision of data specified in Art. 22¹ of the Labor Code; providing other data is voluntary.
VIII. Your personal data will not be transferred to a third country (i.e., a country outside the European Economic Area) nor to an international organization.
