We are seeking a reliable WordPress Site Manager / Junior Developer for a part-time, contract, as-needed role to support our company websites.
This position focuses on ongoing website maintenance, blog creation, visual page editing, and overall site health. Hours are flexible and based on workload; some periods may require only small updates, while others involve larger projects like new page builds or design updates.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain multiple WordPress websites.
- Create, format, and publish blog posts efficiently.
- Edit existing pages and build new pages, ensuring optimal layout, visuals, and mobile responsiveness.
- Support basic web design updates and layout improvements.
- Perform essential WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates.
- Monitor site health, resolving basic issues or errors promptly.
- Execute basic performance optimization, including image optimization, caching implementation, and page speed checks.
- Maintain fundamental SEO hygiene (meta titles/descriptions, broken links, sitemap checks).
- Ensure proper backups and adherence to basic security best practices.
- Rigorously test all changes before publishing to live sites.
- Communicate clearly regarding timelines and project progress.
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of professional experience working with WordPress websites.
- Proven experience utilizing page builders (e.g., Elementor, Gutenberg).
- Comfortable executing visual page edits and constructing new pages.
- Basic proficiency in HTML and CSS (PHP knowledge is a plus).
- Experience updating plugins, themes, and WordPress core components.
- Basic understanding of website performance metrics and SEO best practices.
- Good design sense coupled with an understanding of UI/UX fundamentals.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks responsibly.
- Clear written communication skills are essential.
Nice to Have:
- Experience managing multiple WordPress sites simultaneously.
- Familiarity with staging environments.
- Experience utilizing Google Search Console or PageSpeed Insights.
