Mobile App / Front-End Engineer: React Native Specialist
We are seeking a Mobile App / Front-End Engineer to take ownership of our mobile application development while contributing to the broader front-end engineering team. This role primarily focuses on our React Native mobile application for iOS and Android platforms.
You will collaborate closely with front-end engineers specializing in the web experience, maintaining clear ownership of the mobile app’s architecture, quality assurance, and release process.
Our current technology stack includes Vue 3 with Vite and TypeScript for the web front-end, and PHP / CakePHP for backend APIs. While deep backend expertise is not required, you must be comfortable integrating with REST APIs and collaborating across development teams.
What You’ll Do: Core Responsibilities
- Own the mobile application built with React Native for iOS and Android.
- Drive mobile architecture decisions, technical standards, and best practices.
- Manage and execute mobile release workflows for the App Store and Google Play.
- Build new mobile features and maintain existing functionality.
- Collaborate with the front-end team on shared UI patterns and API usage.
- Contribute to the web front-end (Vue 3) as needed.
- Consume and integrate with REST APIs using standard CRUD patterns.
- Write clean, well-organized, testable, and maintainable code.
- Write and maintain automated tests, with a strong focus on mobile testing.
- Participate actively in code reviews, PRs, and team discussions.
- Maintain a strong focus on security, performance, and reliability across all development efforts.
Required Skills & Experience
Mobile (Primary Focus)
- Strong proficiency in React Native.
- Experience shipping and maintaining production mobile apps.
- Proficient in iOS and Android release flows.
- Experience writing and maintaining mobile automated tests.
Front-End (Team Contribution)
- Proficiency in Vue 3.
- Experience with Vuex ORM.
- Strong experience with TypeScript.
- Proficient with SCSS and modern CSS.
- Familiarity with Vite.
General Engineering
- Strong experience consuming REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of CRUD application patterns.
- Proficient with Git and GitHub.
- Comfortable working from the command line.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable code.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with PHP / CakePHP.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience improving or introducing mobile CI/CD or test automation.
- Knowledge of GitHub workflows.
- Experience working in a SaaS environment.
