PHP Engineer (Mid-Level, Remote Germany)

Join the Tech & Engineering team at ESN & More! As a PHP Engineer, you will contribute to a modern, fully event-driven composable commerce architecture. We utilize a state-of-the-art tech stack including PHP 8, the Symfony framework, and the AWS ecosystem to build scalable, high-performance services for our ESN & More Nutrition brands. Your Mission: Key Responsibilities

• Continuously optimize and enhance software using modern methods and architectures.
• Design and implement software solutions and microservices in close collaboration with Product and other business stakeholders.
• Implement and maintain event-driven and asynchronous workflows using AWS services (e.g., SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Lambda).
• Collaborate closely with your interdisciplinary team and the Product Owner to deliver high-quality features end to end.
• Contribute to code quality through peer reviews, testing, and clean architecture principles.
• Actively drive technical decisions within the team and share knowledge to support the growth of others.

Your Experience & Skills (Required Qualifications)

• Degree in computer science, training in software development, or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of hands-on experience in software development with excellent PHP skills.
• Experience with Symfony or Laravel.
• Solid knowledge of microservices architectures and asynchronous programming in an event-driven environment.
• Familiarity with API design and DevOps practices (CI/CD, Git, GitHub Actions, Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform).
• Practical experience with AWS (e.g., Lambda, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, EC2) and container technologies such as Docker.
• Hands-on experience with AI technologies and enthusiasm for applying AI in real-world use cases.
• On-call availability and willingness to travel for tech days when needed.
• Experience working in an agile way (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and using methods like peer reviews and retrospectives.
• Excellent English skills, both written and spoken; German skills are a plus.
• Ideally bring experience with additional programming languages and/or an e-commerce background.
