Medior+ or Senior PHP Developer | 2/3 Days Work From Home/ 2 days ago

Application ends: 2026-07-04

Quick Summary

MatchMatters BV is looking for a Medior+ or Senior PHP Developer to work on long-term educational software platforms. The role involves developing scalable features, refactoring legacy and modern code, and coaching junior and medior developers. Requirements include extensive PHP and Symfony experience, SOLID/DRY principles, and CI/CD knowledge. The position offers a hybrid work model (2-3 days remote), a salary up to €5,000 gross per month, a training budget, and a pathway to a permanent contract.

Do you have extensive experience with PHP and do you get energy from building future-proof software and coaching colleagues? Do you want to work on applications with social impact, where you have long-term ownership over the technology instead of constantly changing client projects?

For an innovative organization within the education sector, we are looking for a Medior+/Senior PHP Developer who not only loves to develop but also actively contributes to the technical growth of the team.

Job Description

As a Medior+/Senior PHP Developer, you will work on business-critical platforms used daily by thousands of users. You will develop new features, improve existing systems, and help the organization further professionalize its software landscape technically. You are an important sparring partner within the development team and actively think along about architecture, code quality, and technical improvements. In addition, you support less experienced colleagues through coaching, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

In this role, you do not work on short projects with a limited lifespan, but on applications for which you bear long-term responsibility. This gives you the opportunity to make structural improvements and help determine the technical direction. Your activities are diverse and combine hands-on development with technical guidance of the team. In this way, you develop scalable and future-proof software solutions that are used daily by a large group of users. At the same time, you continuously work on improving code quality, performance, and development processes to further strengthen the technical foundation.

In addition to developing new features, you take an active role in knowledge sharing within the team. You perform code reviews, think along about technical issues, and guide medior and junior developers in their further growth. You will be given the space to discuss software architecture, technical choices, and the future direction of the platform. You also contribute to the further professionalization of the development pipeline by thinking along about testing, CI/CD processes, and automation. Finally, you work closely with product owners and other stakeholders to optimally align technical solutions with user needs and organizational goals.

  • Experience with software design principles such as SOLID and DRY
  • Experience with CI/CD processes
  • Knowledge of both modern and legacy applications
  • Affinity with software architecture and technical quality improvement
  • Knowledge of JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks is a plus
  • Experience with Vue.js and/or Angular is a plus

Employment Conditions

  • Salary up to approximately €5,000 gross per month depending on experience
  • One-year contract with prospects of a permanent employment contract
  • Individual training budget for external training and courses
  • 25 vacation days and 8% holiday allowance
  • Pension scheme, home working allowance
  • Travel allowance and bicycle scheme
  • Company laptop and smartphone
  • Contribution to fitness subscription
  • Regular team outings and company activities
  • Hybrid working with a lot of flexibility
