Our AI-native product team is building digital products with five distinct roles: Prototyper, Builder, Sweeper, Grower, and Maintainer. Each role plays a crucial part in the product lifecycle, from initial concept to reliable operation. Our work spans our online campus, websites, e-commerce shop, and new AI-powered learning and sales solutions.
The Role: Maintainer
Do you thrive on ensuring product reliability once users depend on it? As a Maintainer, you will be responsible for keeping our mature systems fast, secure, and highly available, even as user numbers and functionality expand. You will automate operations, provide continuous system visibility, and systematically resolve disruptions. We welcome candidates from Junior to Senior levels; your passion for leveraging AI tools to achieve outstanding results is key.
Key Responsibilities
- Availability & Performance: Establish and uphold monitoring, alerting, and target metrics for system availability and response times.
- Automated Operations: Implement deployments, updates, backups, and recovery processes using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Incident Resolution: Systematically identify, resolve, and document incident causes to prevent recurrence.
- Security Management: Proactively manage patches, dependencies, access rights, and data protection compliance.
- Cost & Capacity Planning: Ensure transparency of cloud costs and forecast capacity needs for future growth.
- Campus Operations: Collaborate with external service providers to maintain the stability and currency of our learning platform.
- AI Integration: Utilize AI tools to accelerate log analysis, runbook execution, and routine operational tasks.
- Team Collaboration: Facilitate smooth handovers with Builder and Sweeper roles, ensuring operational knowledge is shared across the team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Completed degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience operating web applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Proficiency with containers, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Docker, GitHub Actions, Terraform).
- Strong command of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, Uptime-Monitoring).
- Solid Linux knowledge and foundational understanding of network and database operations, including backup strategies.
- Scripting or development skills (e.g., Python, Bash, TypeScript).
- Experience with PHP and Moodle environments is a plus.
- Enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools for analysis, automation, and documentation.
- A calm, systematic approach to troubleshooting and a strong sense of responsibility for live systems.
- Excellent written and spoken German language skills, with good English proficiency.
