This pivotal role is a significant investment focused on delivering innovative features for our internal content management platforms. As a Lead Developer within the Technology & Engineering department, you will be a key leader working specifically on the Proof CMS.
You will collaborate closely with the existing Tech Lead and Lead Developer to ensure the delivery of a scalable, efficient, and forward-thinking platform. A primary focus involves implementing new AI improvements to support the strategic initiative for Editorial Efficiencies. Daily responsibilities include leading a team of two Full Stack Developers, scoping new system architectures, and leading the development of robust software components.
Key Responsibilities: CMS Architecture and Technical Leadership
- Collaborative Architecture: Design system architectures and make strategic technology choices to support the long-term vision of the Proof CMS.
- Technical Leadership: Provide significant input on application and systems architecture. Maintain a high-level understanding of the entire stack (PHP, MongoDB, ReactJS, Temporal) while possessing deep knowledge of core systems.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the existing Tech Lead on Proof to ensure all code is well-scoped, monitored, documented, and thoroughly testable.
- AI Implementation: Lead the integration of AI tools and workflows specifically designed to support the Editorial Efficiencies initiative.
- Quality Assurance: Direct your team to utilize appropriate testing frameworks (unit, integration, E2E) and collaborate with QA and technical leads to ensure high quality.
- Innovation: Stay current with the latest development approaches, advocate for appropriate technology upgrades, and ensure team participation in regular hack days to prototype innovative solutions.
Experience That Accelerates Success
- Web Development: Proven modern web development experience using PHP, NextJS/React, and TypeScript.
- Core Technologies: Deep understanding of the inner workings and latest features of both CSS and JavaScript.
- Component Design: Ability to build performant components from scratch within modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Backend Engineering: Extensive API and backend development experience.
- Performance Tuning: Proficiency in interpreting and acting on Flame graphs and other developer tools to optimize application performance.
- Data Handling: Experience retrieving and marshalling data from a variety of sources, including databases and external APIs.
- DevOps: Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools and practices.
Compensation and Benefits (UK Remote)
The expected salary range for this role is £60,000 - £65,000. This is a UK, Remote-based position.
