About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure backend systems. This critical engineering leadership role requires expertise in PHP/Laravel and developing robust RESTful interfaces. The Lead Developer will own the backend architecture, focusing strongly on performance, security, and maintainability, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and mentoring other developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP/Laravel.
- Translate complex business requirements into well-architected backend solutions that effectively support product and user needs.
- Participate in and help lead architectural discussions, contributing significantly to technical decisions across various projects.
- Collaborate seamlessly with Product, Front-End, QA, Design, and DevOps teams to deliver new features and enhance existing systems.
- Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code, adhering strictly to established engineering best practices.
- Implement and maintain database schemas, data models, and integrations with essential third-party services.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and actively mentor junior developers.
- Ensure optimal application performance, reliability, and security, including monitoring and troubleshooting production issues.
- Stay current with emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns, proposing continuous improvements to the development process.
- Take full ownership of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), spanning design, development, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, specifically utilizing PHP/Laravel.
- Strong experience with at least one backend language or framework beyond PHP.
- Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Solid understanding of databases, data modeling, and schema design.
- Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and security best practices for web applications.
- Experience working effectively in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
