We are seeking a Junior to Mid PHP Developer to join our R&D team, focusing on enhancing and maintaining a critical legacy web application. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates interested in IoT and rapid industry growth. You will manage the full development life cycle for client-facing and internal web applications, working closely with the Product Manager, R&D team, and Testing team.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong organizational skills, capable of translating requirements into efficient solutions and thriving in a highly agile environment. A strong understanding of vanilla PHP and custom architecture is essential, as our application is built with core PHP (without full-stack frameworks).
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop new software features and maintain existing software, including debugging and fixing issues within the existing PHP codebase.
- Safely implement small to medium changes in legacy code.
- Write and maintain raw SQL queries.
- Implement minor JavaScript for simple UI behaviour.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 1–5 years of experience with PHP and MySQL.
- Strong plain PHP fundamentals (comfort working without a framework).
- Strong debugging skills.
- Solid understanding of Web Fundamentals and practical web security knowledge.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
- Demonstrated initiative, self-starter mentality, and willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to be a team player.
- Some experience using Git (Git Basics).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment and commit to deadlines.
Location & Compensation:
This is a remote working role. Candidates must reside in Ireland and have the legal right to work in Ireland. Occasional visits to our head office in Gweedore/Falcarragh, Co. Donegal are required.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €35,000.00–€40,000.00 per year
