Role Overview:
As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Athena Systems’ local and global IT infrastructure. You will play a key role in managing our cloud infrastructure while collaborating closely with teams in US and Spain to ensure seamless global operations. Your responsibilities will include server administration, network security, domain management, and support for both production and preproduction environments. You will ensure the security, reliability, and performance of systems and networks while providing on-site support to local users and managing our data center in Madrid.
Key Responsibilities:
SQL Server Administration:
- Schedule and manage database backups and restorations (production, UAT, and preproduction).
- Configure and secure new databases, maintaining optimal performance and access control.
- Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, SSIS packages, and SSRS reports.
Infrastructure and System Management:
- Maintain and administer domain controllers, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Manage Hyper-V environments, WSUS updates, and Windows Server Failover Clustering.
- Oversee the physical data center in Madrid, including backups, hardware maintenance, and monitoring.
- Configure and maintain DNS, DHCP, TLS certificates, and SSH keys.
- Administer firewalls, VPNs, and local network segmentation (Cisco/Fortinet).
- Perform preventive maintenance on hardware and software systems, ensuring compliance with IT policies.
Network & Security:
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and connectivity issues efficiently.
- Manage VPN access and site-to-site connections across regions.
- Oversee IP address allocation, subnetting, and routing.
- Implement and monitor security measures (MFA, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection).
- Collaborate with service providers to resolve network issues and maintain uptime.
Implementation & Support:
- Deploy preproduction environments and FTP servers for client testing.
- Manage ETL applications and FIX connections for financial data integration.
- Provide on-site technical support for users and coordinate with remote IT teams.
- Maintain technical documentation and improve internal IT processes.
Technical Skills:
- Windows Server & Active Directory: Advanced knowledge of AD, Group Policy, WSUS, RDS, and Hyper-V.
- Database Management: SQL Server (SSMS, backups, security, performance tuning).
- Networking: Cisco and Fortinet firewalls, VLANs, routing, and DNS management.
- Virtualization & Containers: Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Automation: PowerShell and Bash scripting for administrative automation.
- Web & Application Servers: IIS, ASP.NET, PHP, and API testing (Postman).
- Monitoring & Documentation: Experience with YouTrack or similar ticketing systems.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure and network support.
- Strong understanding of Windows domain environments and network management.
- Proven experience with firewalls, VPNs, and SQL Server administration.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); Spanish is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities independently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-regional teamwork.
- Proactive attitude towards process improvement, automation, and documentation.

- Pay: $20,833.00 - $29,166.00 per month
