IT Application Specialist (m/f/d) – SQL, Support & Testing

MDT Consulting GmbH has been supporting clients with digitalization since 1998 and assists them with Managed Services for their IT systems and applications.

We are looking for an IT Application Specialist (m/f/d) with excellent SQL knowledge and broad technical understanding for a versatile role between application support, testing, web-based applications, and legacy systems.

Your Responsibilities

• Support and maintenance of legacy systems and modern web-based applications
• Using SQL for queries, data and error analysis, and troubleshooting
• Independent analysis, isolation, and resolution of application and system errors
• Testing of applications, changes, and new functions
• Reading and understanding existing program code
• Support and configuration of web-based applications, including in the PHP environment
• Support for existing RPG-based legacy applications and willingness to learn RPG
• Installation and management of certificates
• Integration and configuration of label printers, scanners, and handhelds in the network, especially in logistics environments
• Support for application-related network, server, and infrastructure topics
• Independent processing and implementation of IT projects
• Collaboration with users, departments, IT, and management

What you bring

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable IT qualification
• Excellent SQL knowledge and practical experience with databases
• Good understanding of applications, software, and technical interrelationships
• Ability to read and understand existing program code
• Programming skills, e.g., in PHP, C#/.NET, RPG, or a comparable language, are an advantage
• Experience in application support and/or software testing
• Good understanding of networks, servers, and IT infrastructure
• Ideally, experience in independently implementing IT projects
• Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken
• Very good communication skills and a confident demeanor with various stakeholders
• Proactive, independent, and solution-oriented way of working
• Hands-on mentality and enjoyment of getting to the bottom of technical problems yourself
