Job Summary
CUSAC is seeking a Game Designer for an ongoing contract position to shape the core logic, feel, and flow of ten browser-based mini-games. These games are designed to explore psi phenomena in a playful and intuitive way. This role is suited for a developer who can work independently, iterate quickly, and deliver polished mini-games on a recurring basis over the next couple months.
Responsibilities
- Translate complex scientific concepts into compelling game mechanics.
- Collaborate with developers and artists to define levels, scoring, feedback, and win conditions.
- Create detailed design documents and wireframes, iterating on gameplay logic.
- Help define user journeys and experience flow for repeatable testing protocols.
- Ensure games are intuitive, delightful, and accessible for diverse users.
Required Skillset
- Strong experience designing 2D casual or experimental games.
- Portfolio showcasing published or playable examples.
- Systems thinking ability: clearly mapping rules, states, and conditions.
- Curiosity about consciousness, intuition, and psi phenomena.
Preferred Skillset
- Experience with Phaser.js.
- Background in educational or behavioral games.
- Familiarity with Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), cognitive psychology, or UX testing.
