About the Role
The Connect team focuses on developing solutions that enhance user connections throughout their chess journey. This includes features from friend lists and top player rankings to follower interactions, puzzle path progression, and performance comparisons with friends. Our goal is to ensure user-to-user interactions are seamless and enjoyable.
About You
You pride yourself on writing high-quality, high-performance code and thrive in a collaborative team environment. You possess humility, a sense of humor, and don't take yourself too seriously. You embrace innovation, viewing AI as a transformative tool that amplifies your existing skills, rather than a threat. If you have experience in or aspire to work in the gaming industry and are ready to apply your talents to chess, we want to hear from you! Having served over two billion chess games, we need your help to reach 10 billion and beyond.
What You'll Do
- Work with service-based architecture and cloud-native applications to maintain system efficiency and security.
- Utilize Cursor and Claude to build AI-first technologies.
- Engage in extensive coding.
- Conduct thorough code reviews.
- Deploy numerous applications to Kubernetes (k8s) and enjoy building telemetry and monitoring dashboards.
- Design software capable of serving traffic from millions of users.
Preferred Skills
- Solid skills in one or more programming languages (Swift, Kotlin, Typescript, PHP, or Java are highly valued).
- Strong engineering background in one or more stacks (Vue, Symfony, Spring Boot).
- Experience prompting and interacting with AI-native code editors (Claude Code/Cursor).
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working in a fully distributed team.
- Strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
