Full Stack Developer (WordPress/Shopify + PHP, AI-Accelerated) Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to design, build, and maintain client-facing web platforms and internal tools, primarily on WordPress and Shopify, with strong PHP and API fundamentals. You will work across multiple concurrent client projects, owning features end-to-end from implementation to optimisation. This is not a theme-customisation role - you will be expected to build systems and custom functionality from the ground up when the project calls for it.

Key Responsibilities:

Full Stack Development

• Design and build web applications and platforms from scratch, including system structure, data flow, and integrations
• Develop and maintain frontend and backend components using clean, scalable code
• Translate business and functional requirements into practical technical solutions across multiple concurrent client projects

API & Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external use
• Integrate third-party services such as payment gateways, CRM systems, analytics tools, and automation platforms
• Ensure secure, efficient, and well-documented API communication

Frontend, UI & UX Execution

• Implement responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces based on design intent or wireframes
• Build reusable UI components and layout systems
• Improve usability, performance, and user flow across platforms
• Refactor poorly structured or legacy frontend implementations

Performance, Stability & Scalability

• Optimise frontend and backend performance, including page load time and system responsiveness
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks at code, database, and integration levels
• Ensure systems remain stable, scalable, and maintainable under real-world usage

AI-Accelerated Development

• Use modern AI tools to accelerate development, refactoring, and debugging
• Review, validate, and harden AI-assisted code before production use
• Stay updated on emerging AI and automation practices relevant to web development

Quality & Documentation

• Test features thoroughly before handover; follow internal QA and release standards
• Maintain clear documentation and handover materials for PM and future developers

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with designers, project managers, and other developers across multiple client accounts
• Communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Use project/ticketing tools (e.g. Jira, ClickUp, Trello) to track and update task progress
• Maintain proper documentation and handover materials

Requirements

• Strong experience with WordPress or Shopify (one must be solid)
• Solid experience in frontend and PHP development
• Strong understanding of REST API design and integrations
• Able to build systems from scratch, not just customise themes or plugins
• Proficient in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL
• Comfortable working independently on live production systems
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Clear written and verbal English communication for direct client interaction
• Able to manage multiple concurrent projects/priorities in an agency setting

Nice to Have

• Experience with Laravel or other backend frameworks
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Vue
• Experience using AI tools for development, automation, or integrations
• Strong UI/UX sensibility without heavy design hand-holding
• Experience working on high-traffic or data-heavy systems, including exposure to performance tuning, database optimisation, caching strategies, or search solutions
• Familiarity with concepts such as CDNs or object caching is a strong plus
