Better Collective is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our Platform team and support the design, automation, and day-to-day operation of our cloud infrastructure.

The role

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll work alongside our Platform/DevOps team to build, scale, and automate infrastructure, and support our developer teams with reliable CI/CD. You’ll get hands-on exposure to the full infrastructure lifecycle, with guidance and mentorship from senior engineers as you grow. An appreciation for sports business logic is a plus for understanding backlog priorities, but our focus is on solid engineering fundamentals, across products like BolaVIP, Futbin, Action Network, SitesDeApostas, ScoresAndOdds, BettingExpert, HLTV, and RotoGrinders.

Job responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Help manage, secure, and scale our cloud environment (currently AWS)
  • Infrastructure as Code: Provision and maintain infrastructure using Terraform; manage configuration with Chef/Ansible.
  • Containers: Deploy and support containerized applications using Docker on ECS/EKS (or equivalent orchestration).
  • Serverless & Edge: Work with serverless functions (e.g. AWS Lambda) and edge tooling (e.g. Cloudflare Workers).
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Build and maintain automated pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.
  • Traffic & CDNs: Support content delivery, caching, and routing configuration (Cloudflare, CloudFront or similar).
  • Monitoring & Observability: Help maintain infrastructure health tracking and alerting (Checkmk, Prometheus, or Grafana).
  • Networking: Assist with firewall, VPC, and routing configuration.
  • App Support: Troubleshoot environment-level issues for Node.js, PHP, and WordPress applications, escalating complex cases as needed.

Technical stack

  • Cloud & Orchestration: AWS or equivalent cloud experience, Docker, ECS/EKS or similar (ArgoCD is a plus)
  • IaC & Automation: Terraform, Chef, Ansible (or similar config management tools)
  • Serverless: Lambda or equivalent, Cloudflare Workers
  • CDN & Networking: Cloudflare, CDN basics, networking fundamentals (VPC, firewalls)
  • CI/CD & Git: GitHub Actions or similar, Git, Gitflow
  • Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL; knowledge to DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch is a plus
  • Monitoring: Checkmk, Prometheus, or Grafana
  • Web Servers: Nginx or Apache configuration and management
  • Languages/Scripting: Bash, Python, or similar; familiarity with Node.js and/or PHP environments

Job requirements

  • Experience: 2-4 years in SRE, Platform Engineering, or DevOps, ideally with cloud infrastructure (AWS experience is a plus, not required).
  • IaC: Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or Ansible.
  • OS Admin: Solid working knowledge of Linux administration (Ubuntu/Debian).
  • Troubleshooting: Comfortable diagnosing issues in live Node.js and/or PHP/WordPress applications, or eager to build this skill.
  • Mindset: Organized, deadline-aware, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • AI: Curiosity about AI-assisted workflows and tools is a plus.

Benefits

  • Private health insurance
  • Sick leave 100% paid
  • Canteen with free meals and drinks
  • Flexible working hours
