The Role

As a Presidio Delivery Center Network Engineer, you will collaborate with industry experts to deliver IT excellence and address client IT challenges. This role utilizes our ITSM and monitoring platform to quickly identify issues, alert our team, and facilitate seamless client communication for swift resolution. Our diverse client base and network topologies offer daily challenges and new experiences. As technology evolves, our team leads in integrating new solutions into client networks for management.

This position will be Monday through Friday 10:00 – 06:00 PM Eastern Time.

Travel Requirements:

This role will be remotely based in the Continental US. Associated travel will be 5%.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as an escalation point for support calls related to products in our network product catalog.
  • Provide ongoing Tier 2 support for production environments, including Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, Fortinet, Meraki, and Aruba Products, among others.
  • Conduct testing of new features and functionality as required, developing implementation plans and verifying correct operation in the live network.
  • Test patches and fixes to operating software, ensuring correct implementation and functionality in pre-production test networks (if available) and then in the live network as dictated by implementation plans.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, configuration, and network problems, opening and tracking vendor support cases through to resolution for production issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and be available for off-hours work to support customer escalations.
  • Develop additional skills in other products as business needs dictate.

Required Skills and Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and/or military experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience providing implementation and technical support for networking products in LAN, WAN, or Internet services environments.
  • 3+ years’ experience providing implementation and technical support for Cisco Products.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass various background checks for our clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and expert-level relationship management abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with various levels of client engineering and management.
  • Ability to function in a team environment, recognizing and taking on tasks with self-direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the team, articulating both client-facing and internal operational problems proactively.
  • A history of successfully managing and operating multi-vendor network environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work calmly under pressure.
  • Technical experience in the installation and operation of IP Routers, Switches, and Firewalls, including hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
  • Understanding of the protocols surrounding IP networks, including:
    • TCP/IP fundamentals
    • IP subnetting and supernetting and hierarchical routing principles
    • Routing protocol operation (OSPF and BGP)
    • Routing policies at BGP peering points, etc.
  • Passion for continuous learning and expanding knowledge.
  • CCNP certification (or actively working towards CCNP certification).

Preferred Skills and Professional Experience:

  • Palo Alto PCNSE
  • F5 Certified Administrator
  • Cisco Certifications (CCIE)
  • Aruba ACCP and/or ACMP
  • Advanced Unix/Linux system engineering skills
  • Knowledge of one of Python/Perl/Bash/PHP
  • Experience with Ansible/Puppet/REST
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and/or military experience.
