Database Engineer (ClickHouse & MariaDB) – Full Remote Portugal

Join EXADS, a dynamic international ad tech startup and part of EXOGROUP, specializing in proprietary ad-serving technology. We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to manage and scale our critical database infrastructure, supporting high-volume web and mobile projects utilizing Data Streaming, Big Data, and Real-Time Statistics Computation.

Location: Full Remote from anywhere in Portugal (or work from our Porto office).

Your Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor high-performance database clusters, specifically ClickHouse and MariaDB systems.
• Ensure long-term system reliability, stability, and optimal cost-effective resource utilization.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to design, implement, and maintain databases based on end-user requirements.
• Regularly review and improve database systems’ design and architecture.
• Research and resolve performance bottlenecks through advanced analysis and fine-tuning.
• Contribute to team process improvements, adhering to industry best practices.
• Participate actively in team knowledge sharing activities.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven, hands-on experience with MySQL/MariaDB administration.
• Expertise in diagnosing, analyzing, and resolving complex operational database problems.
• Extensive experience in database performance analysis and fine-tuning.
• Knowledge regarding partitioning and sharding of data for scalability.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and related management tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
• BS / MS in Computer Science / related technical discipline OR equivalent professional experience.

Desired Skills:

• Exposure to programming languages such as PHP, Python, and Go.
• Previous experience with BigData systems (Hadoop, Impala, ClickHouse) is considered a significant advantage.
