This strategic, 100% remote position requires deep expertise in software development and systems architecture. The ideal candidate excels at coding complex solutions, influencing large-scale technical decisions, leading critical improvement initiatives, and mentoring engineers at all levels. You will be crucial in ensuring the technical excellence, scalability, and maintainability of our platform.

This is a full-time (40 hours weekly), remote opportunity (CLT contract).

Responsibilities and Attributions

  • Technically lead the migration and evolution of legacy systems toward a microservices architecture.
  • Define architectural standards, engineering guidelines, and best practices.
  • Conduct deep analysis of existing legacy components (primarily PHP) and propose effective modernization strategies.
  • Design scalable, resilient, and observable microservices.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product team to support critical structural decisions.
  • Mentor and train mid-level and senior software engineers, elevating the overall technical proficiency of the team.
  • Implement critical components and high-impact frameworks that guide the technical direction of projects.
  • Monitor technical debt and prioritize remediation efforts.
  • Disseminate knowledge regarding distributed architectures.
  • Ensure high standards of system quality, security, and performance.
  • Promote a robust DevOps/SRE culture by automating deployments, monitoring, and continuous delivery pipelines (CI/CD).

Requirements and Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • Strong, proven experience with microservices architecture.
  • Solid background in modernizing legacy systems.
  • Experience managing highly complex and large-scale systems.
  • Deep knowledge of software engineering best practices: SOLID principles, Clean Code, and Design Patterns.
  • Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Practical experience with messaging systems and event-driven architecture.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD, Docker, observability tools, and monitoring solutions.
  • Mastery of Git and version control tools.
  • Technical English proficiency.

Important Differentiators:

  • Prior experience with PHP (legacy systems or modern frameworks).
  • Experience utilizing Golang for backend services.
  • Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
  • Experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Experience in monolith decomposition processes.
  • Proven ability in technical decision-making (evaluating trade-offs, scalability, and performance).
  • Experience in technical leadership or providing strategic support to development squads.
