Role Overview: PHP Web Development & Email Systems Management
We seek a skilled Webmaster/Web Developer to manage the implementation, maintenance, and evolution of marketing websites, standalone pages, and email systems across multiple brands and languages. This role combines frontend development, PHP-based CMS management, MJML email development, and controlled deployments.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working with legacy code, possess deep understanding of PHP fundamentals, and operate confidently in Unix-based environments. Fluency in English (C1, C2, Proficient/Advanced) with excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
You will translate high-level or fragmented instructions into clear, executable tasks, manage deployments responsibly, and ensure high quality across desktop and mobile experiences.
Note: Experience with Kirby CMS or other flat-file PHP CMS is a plus. A valid passport and U.S. visa, or willingness to apply, is necessary for occasional travel to the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement new pages and update existing pages across multiple websites.
- Maintain and evolve complementary websites, campaign microsites, and standalone pages.
- Review and implement mobile-first adaptations and responsive behavior across all pages.
- Add interactive elements and animations using Alpine.js or Vanilla JS.
- Manage and update site navigation menus based on evolving functionality.
- Design and adapt new email layouts.
- Implement emails in MJML, adhering to existing conventions.
- Maintain and update the email gallery, main templates (dark and light mode), and shared components, ensuring consistency across email clients and devices.
- Upload, organize, and maintain control of assets (images, videos, vectors), applying naming conventions, optimization standards, and version control.
- Implement language-specific text and content variations as required.
- Review, maintain, and manage WordPress plugins (updates, compatibility, stability).
- Work with current and future PHP-based CMS structures, including potential Kirby migration.
- Maintain and understand internal templates and automation scripts.
- Manage deployments across Sandbox and Live environments, maintaining a clear history of versions and changes.
- Follow existing deployment scripts, conventions, and best practices, submitting deployments for review and implementing feedback.
Technical Operations (Light DevOps / Scripting)
- Use SSH when required to inspect environments, debug issues, or assist with deployments.
- Understand Unix file hierarchies and basic system investigation (logs, services, Apache).
- Work with Git-based workflows.
- Follow AWS S3 naming conventions and asset management best practices.
- Integrate standalone static pages or external repositories into the main PHP codebase when required.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Must be English fluent with Excellent verbal and written communication skills (C1, C2, Proficient / Advanced).
- Strong experience with PHP (reading, maintaining, and extending existing code).
- Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS / SCSS, and JavaScript (Vanilla / Alpine.js).
- Experience building MJML emails.
- Experience working with WordPress (themes, plugins, updates).
- Familiarity with Git and version-controlled deployments.
- Comfort working in Unix / Linux environments (SSH, basic shell commands).
- Strong understanding of responsive design and mobile adaptations.
- Passport / American Visa up to date, or willingness to apply if necessary (for travel to the United States).
Required PHP Fundamentals include:
- Classes, namespaces, traits, and inheritance.
- Requires / includes.
- Output buffering (ob_start).
- File and IO operations.
Additional Experience Preferred:
- Experience with scripting (bash or similar).
- Familiarity with deployment automation.
- Experience managing multi-language websites.
- Experience working with legacy codebases.
- Experience with Kirby CMS or other flat-file PHP CMS.
- Familiarity with AWS basics (especially S3).
- Experience optimizing images and media pipelines.
- Prior experience in multi-brand or multi-country environments.

Compensation and Benefits
We offer USD 1,900 per month (Contractor).
