We are seeking an experienced Backend Tech Lead for a dynamic, client-facing role. This position offers significant hands-on development opportunities and ownership of technical strategies and project estimates. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to deliver production-ready code within an agency environment, navigating open-ended requirements. You will be accountable for project success and team growth, possessing expertise in common Shopify integration patterns and a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk anticipation.
This role is crucial for assisting large, mature enterprise brands with their Shopify migration. It requires experience with key e-commerce systems such as ERP, OMS, IMS, PIM, POS, and familiarity with common integration workstreams including order management lifecycles, product data models, data migrations, omni-channel solutions, and payments. While on-the-job learning is supported, tangible experience in these areas is essential, particularly in evaluating custom versus off-the-shelf solutions.
This position is open to qualified candidates globally, in locations where Domaine can legally employ, provided they can work U.S. Eastern Time Zone hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Development
- Design and implement reliable, efficient, and secure integrations using PHP/Laravel or JS/Node.
- Optimize databases and queues, understanding infrastructure impact on throughput and reliability.
- Ensure projects are thoroughly tested and implement robust CI/CD pipelines.
Client Relations
- Communicate complex technical concepts to clients effectively.
- Negotiate requirements, resources, timelines, and scope to ensure project success.
- Provide solution-focused support through technical calls, emails, documentation, and diagrams.
- Offer timely advice on Shopify integration, including middleware architecture and design principles.
Project Leadership
- Clearly communicate project status and proactively address challenges.
- Assist with development timelines, work grooming, assignment, and release.
- Supervise team output, providing guidance and fostering collaborative problem-solving through paired programming and code reviews.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Development and DevOps
- Proficiency in PHP/Laravel or JS/Node.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and AWS.
- Comfortable working in the command-line and with Linux-based operating systems.
- React experience is a plus.
Data Management
- Proven experience in data modeling, data mapping, and data migration between various systems.
E-commerce Expertise
- Strong understanding of the Shopify data model.
- Hands-on experience with Shopify APIs.
- Knowledge of other enterprise e-commerce systems is highly valued.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Ability to collaboratively solve problems and effectively share technical knowledge.
- People management experience is a plus.
